Overview and Expectations
The Battle Data Lab is recruiting undergraduate researchers for Fall 2020 and Spring 2021. Women are strongly encouraged to apply. Black students, indigenous students, and students of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements for all undergraduate researchers:
The ability to research for at least two consecutive semesters (fall and spring, or spring and summer)
A commitment to putting 6-10 hours per week into research each semester (minus midterms and finals weeks)
Consistent participation in weekly research team meetings
Willingness to participate in both user study work (interviewing people, studying how they work) and programming work (software development)
Contribute to the final research report, which every research team is expected to write/update each semester
Expectations for all undergraduate researchers:
Interest in actively building technical *and* communication (writing, presentation) skills equally
Interest in developing strong teamwork skills
Interest in learning about human-computer interaction, visualization, and database research
